Blessing and glory and wisdom, thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and ever. Vacation Bible School, or VBS, which is the centerpiece of many churches’ calendars, is a week-long, high-energy, high-creativity Sunday School event that, when implemented correctly, can transform a children’s ministry, church and even a community. St. Thomas Mar Thoma Sunday School conducted its 12th VBS from 20th – 28th March, 2019, based on the theme ‘God’s Masterpiece’. Mr. P V George, the VBS director, gave leadership to the activities of VBS. Mrs. Latha Mary Ninan ,the Convener, Mr. Jinu Thomas and Ms. Revita George as Joint Conveners and Shibu Philip as the treasurer joined hands to plan and build the service in order to bring out the potentials of the young ones. Vacation Bible School is an all-hands-on-deck event. To do it right requires a strong team of teachers and volunteers.VBS 2019 witnessed a wonderful set of 35 dedicated teachers and a powerful team of volunteers led by our Sunday School teachers. The music team was led by an energetic and enthusiastic team of students along with the director. The team was assisted by a few teachers as well. The inauguration of VBS 2019 was done by our Vicar, Rev. Bobby Mathew. The day was filled with fun and excitement with the Exposition and Presentation of the theme and various other activities. .A well planned schedule was followed, which included teachers and students devotion, singing, class, Director’s Session which included activities, games and interactive tasks. The activities and devotion of each day was based on a sub theme that was provided by the Samajam. A colour code that was in par with the theme was followed every day. We had a total number of 253 students, who were admitted into 32 different classes based on their age. The students were divided into two teams – Team Clay & Team Canvas. The VBS Holy Communion on the seventh day of VBS was a blessed experience. It was conducted in Malayalam by Rev. Bobby Mathew, in which every student from Nursery to Senior took part. The Witnessing Day was a day of great rejoicing, as many of them dedicate their lives to Jesus and one of our Senior students came forward for full time ministry. VBS blocks out a week of action-packed fun for our church. Love Feast and Tender Foot Walk, in which the tiny tots came upon the stage dressed up as biblical characters added colour to the event. Having fun may not be on the top of your ministry to-do list. Nothing fills our lives with laughter like spending time with kids. A Picnic was organized for the students of Primary and Junior and an overnight stay at a chalet in Kabd for Inter & Sentior students. God had been merciful throughout the event. We experienced the providence and guidance of the Almighty God in all that we needed to make VBS 2019 a blessed and fruitful one. We give all honour and glory to Him alone.
